Many of our pages use supplemental programs that "plug in" to the web browser, to increase interactivity. Although several of these are likely to be active on your computer already, we have provided links to allow you to download free readers. We have also included a quick check so you can see if each program is installed and working on your system. If not, go to the Macromedia Flash site, and click the button that says, "Install Now." A new page should load telling you that installation is complete. If a warning window pops up, click the "Yes" button at the bottom. Apple QuickTime Quicktime is a movie-viewing program. Systems with QuickTime installed should display the movie of bubbles in a wave below. Click the silver "Download" button half-way down the page. Choose "Open" at the bottom of the pop-up window. Chime This program will allow you to view and manipulate three-dimensional molecular models. You should be able to view and rotate the calcite molecule below if Chime is installed. Adobe Reader This program reads documents for printing. Check the link below to see if a map of the world shows up: Click the button to get Adobe Reader: After choosing the appropriate language, connection speed, and operating system, click "Download" at the bottom of the page. At the bottom of the pop-up window, choose "Open," then follow the directions given. MrSID GeoViewer Earthguide uses MrSID for many of its larger maps, because it allows you to view the map in high detail. Click on the link below to see if a full-sized map pops up. If you do not already have MrSID GeoViewer installed, please follow this link to MrSID and click the red download button at the bottom of the page. You will have to register as a member, then follow the directions. |
